Jim Kaminski was born in Illinois in 1951, the sixth of ten children in a lively family of seven girls and three boys. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Illinois in 1973, the same year he married his first wife, Deonna, with whom he raised five children. In 1974, Jim moved to Arizona, where he pastored churches while also working for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 2004.
A lifelong student of Scripture, Jim studied Bible theology through distance learning from 1974 to 1987. In 1990, he entered what he describes as God's spiritual rest—a turning point that transformed his walk with Christ. After the loss of his first wife, he married Bertha. Together they share a blended family of seven children, twenty-three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Jim also served for 14 years as a school bus driver in Gilbert, Arizona, collecting stories and sharing wisdom along the way. Now living in the Phoenix area, Jim is a prayer intercessor, church group leader, and board member of an African relief agency. He is passionate about raising up others to teach and model New Covenant life—anchored in God’s rest, empowered by the Spirit, and grounded in prayer. Influenced by the writings of Andrew Murray and John Eldredge, Jim carries a lifelong vision: that God's house would be a house of prayer and that the Church would fully embrace the New Covenant life of rest promised through Christ.
